Obituary of Jacqueline Haller

Jacqueline “Jackie” Haller

Where to begin? Strong, kind, thoughtful, mean, funny, smart, generous, and beautiful. She may have only stood 5’ tall, but The Queen towered over us all in personality.

Jackie opened her arms and home to the many misfits of family, friends, and “mules” over the years, that found comfort in a place to hang out, pass out, and do it all over again. There were countless nights around the tiki bar full of laughter, tears, serious conversations, joking, spilled drinks, jello shots passed around, and catching her cheating at every game she played (we should have known right away when she kept winning). The things a hidden camera would have captured.

Jackie leaves behind her son Jerry. What a rare and wonderful relationship – a mother and son who were there for each other through all of life’s ups and downs. She was his greatest fan yet first in line to tell him when he was screwing up. He could confide in her as a best friend, yet maintain the upmost respect for the strong, independent, loving woman he called Mom. She unquestionably supported Jerry in every way and only asked that he check the ever-present “Son-Do” list posted on the refrigerator.

The other constant in her life was Sue. As sisters tend to be, the two of them would tease, yell, maybe even throw out a regrettable insult, but those times were far outweighed by their absolute love for each other…often unspoken but always known. Attached at the hip, they were quite the dynamic duo. If you live in their beloved SOG, there’s no doubt your paths have crossed – you would have heard them before seeing them – bantering about forgetting what they were shopping for, realizing they left home before using the facilities, or getting lost on the way and driving for miles in the wrong direction.

Jackie will be remembered forever by her two grandchildren: Samantha Pittman and Zachary Haller, four great-grandchildren: Emily, Shaylee, Rosa, and Bobby, and her other loving family members: Kevin, Rob, Gena, Carol, Josh, Kim, Clarissa, Vince, Vivian, Torey, Gemar, and Jaime.

In her spare time, Jackie liked to play league bowling, watch her Tampa Bay Buccaneers, look after any number of dogs, cats, fish, turtles, rabbits, and tend to her duties as an Auxiliary Member of the American Legion Post 138.
