Obituary of Ellen Marie Bailey

BAILEY, ELLEN MARIE, 44, died peacefully Sunday, August 23 at Tampa General Hospital.  Ellen was an organ donor, so her death helped potentially more than 60 others attain a better life.

Ellen was born in Tampa on May 12, 1976.  She lived in the Tampa area her entire life.  Her earlier years were spent in Valrico, and she was a graduate of Bloomingdale High School. She received a softball scholarship to Troy University, where she spent three years.  She then went on and graduated from USF with a double major in finance and accounting.  After working for several years, Ellen decided that she would like to be a pharmacist.  She applied to and was accepted to the University of Florida College of Pharmacy.  After 4 years of intensive work and study, she graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2010.  She was working in retail pharmacy at the time of her death.

Ellen was passionate about the Tampa Bay Lightning and was a season ticket holder.  She also loved Celine Dion, Sister Hazel, UF football, and most sporting events - both collegiate and professional. She enjoyed being involved with the Palma Ceia Little League with her stepson, Logan.

Ellen is survived by her wife, Jessica, her stepson Logan, her sister Christina Coble (Rob), her niece Sydney and nephew Spencer, and parents Linda Stanford (Jerry) and Lyle Bailey along with many, many friends.

A celebration of Ellen's life was held in the Rose Garden at TGH on Saturday, August 22. A memorial service will be planned for the future.
