Obituary of Wendy Urka

Wendy Sue Urka, 56, of Brandon, FL passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, due to melanoma. She was born November 3, 1964, in Traverse City, MI and moved to Brandon from Cleveland OH in 2003. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Economics and Management, Albion College, 1985, a Bachelor of Arts, Information Technology, University of South Florida, 2000, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma. Wendy spent the first part of her career as a Certified Public Accountant, registered in Ohio. In the latter part of her career, she produced training materials to help others to prepare for the CPA exam. She was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Wendy found great happiness in living her life as she wanted to with a quiet lifestyle and close relationships with family and friends. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed mysteries. She possessed a remarkably sharp wit and parched dry sense of humor. She enjoyed puzzles and games and she played to win. Her famous brownies and winning strategies in Chinese Checkers will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents Martin Charles and Peggy Jean Urka née Crane. She is survived by sisters Meggen Jean Urka, Polly Augusta Fry, brother Preston Charles Urka, and beloved dog Nibs.

Remembrances should be made in the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
