Obituary of Cristobal Surillo

Cristobal Surillo, 74, of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, passed away on July 28, 2023, in Tampa, Florida. He was born on August 13, 1948.

Chris, as he was affectionately known, was a very hospitable and family-oriented individual. He was a loving father and grandfather, always cherishing time spent with his loved ones.

In addition to his wife, Margarita Surillo, Chris is survived by his son Kris-Eric Surillo and daughter-in-law Sabrina Surillo, his grandsons Jaden and Kaleb Surillo, and his granddaughter Madison Surillo. He also leaves behind his sisters Edna Surillo and Elsa Surillo, as well as his brothers Edwin Surillo, Dawud Surillo, and Robert Surillo. He was also loved by numerous nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Cristobal Surillo Sr. and Celina Surillo.

Chris was a proud veteran, having served in the Air Force from 1968 to 1972. His time in the military shaped him into the disciplined and dedicated individual he was known to be.

Following his military service, Chris pursued a career as a New York City Detective. His commitment to justice and his sharp investigative skills made him a respected member of the law enforcement community.

Outside of his professional life, Chris had a passion for sports, particularly baseball and basketball. He aspired to be a professional baseball player. He enjoyed playing and watching games and analyzing the strategies employed by the teams.

Chris will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

A memorial service to honor Chris's life will be held at the Bushnell National Cemetery, located at 6502 S.W. 102nd Avenue Bushnell, FL 33513, on Thursday. August 17, 2023 @ 11am

Following the cemetery service, a memorial service will take place at the Kingdom Hall, located at 1917 Livingston Avenue, Lutz, Fl 33559, @ 2pm given by Brother James Pinkerton
