Obituary of Mr. Samuel Alphonso Childs, Jr.

Mr. Samuel Alphonso Childs, Jr., AKA "Pudden," was born on June 14, 1940 at 2812 22nd Street, Tampa, FL. He was educated at Booker T. Washington Jr. High School and graduated from Middleton High School, Class of 1959, where he was captain of the Basketball and Football Teams.

Pudden also attended Florida A&M University and was a quarterback for the FAMU Rattlers. He wokred for the Florida Sentinel Bulletin as a printer and sports writer as well as at Disney World and Times Mirror Press in Los Angeles, California. Dancing was his passion as well as watching sports. Sadly, Pudden passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the age of 83.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Samuel A. Childs, Sr. and Rose Bud Brown Childs; 2 sisters, Rosebud and Johnnie Rose and ex-wife, Edna D. Childs.

He leaves to cherish his memories: 5 children, Tolonda Childs, Antoinette Childs, Samuel A. Childs, III, Xavier Childs and Aaron Childs; 2 nephews, Sean Montgomery and Christopher Walton; and 1 niece, Marney Johnson; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many cousins and friends.
